No doctor-patient relationship
Reading iSymptom, or emailing us, does not create a doctor-patient or any other professional relationship. We do not answer personal medical questions.
How the content is made
Guides are drafted with the help of large language models (AI), checked by automated quality tests, and edited by the site operator. They are not reviewed by physicians or other licensed clinicians. - Seek care when warning signs appear. The triage guidance on each page is a general guide to urgency. If you feel very unwell or something feels wrong, get help even if your symptoms are not listed.
Triage boxes are a guide, not a decision
The colored "when to get help" boxes on each guide sort warning signs into levels of urgency. They are meant to help you notice danger signs. They are not a complete list, and they cannot replace the judgment of a clinician, nurse advice line or emergency dispatcher. When unsure, choose the more urgent option.
Medicines
iSymptom does not give prescription doses. Where over-the-counter medicines are mentioned, follow the dose on the package label and check with a pharmacist if you take other medicines, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a long-term condition, or are treating a child. Mention of a medicine, brand or product is not a recommendation.
