Skin Changes

Skin changes — new lesions, moles, color or texture changes — are common. Most are benign, but some warrant evaluation for skin cancer or systemic disease.

ABCDE of Suspicious Moles

  • Asymmetry
  • Border irregularity
  • Color variation
  • Diameter > 6 mm
  • Evolving (changing)

See a Doctor For

  • Moles with ABCDE features
  • New lesions in adulthood, especially over 30
  • Lesions that bleed or won't heal
  • Sudden multiple new lesions
  • Skin changes with systemic symptoms (fatigue, weight loss, jaundice)
