Coordination Problems

Coordination problems — also called ataxia — can affect movements of arms, legs, eyes, or speech. Sudden onset may indicate stroke; gradual onset may indicate degenerative disease.

Causes

  • Stroke (especially cerebellar)
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Cerebellar disorders (genetic, acquired)
  • Alcohol use or intoxication
  • Vitamin B12 or E deficiency
  • Medication side effects
  • Brain tumors
