  • Peripheral neuropathy

  • Medications (sedatives, blood pressure drugs)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Anemia
  • Vision problems
  • Muscle weakness and joint problems

When to See a Doctor

  • Sudden severe balance loss (possible stroke — call 911)
  • Recurrent falls
  • Balance problems with headache, vision changes, or weakness
  • Vertigo lasting more than a day
