Neonatal Sepsis
Neonatal sepsis is a serious bloodstream infection in newborns. Early-onset (first 72 hours) is usually from delivery; late-onset is often hospital-acquired. Prompt antibiotic treatment is essential.

Warning Signs
- Temperature instability (high or low)
- Poor feeding
- Lethargy or irritability
- Rapid breathing, grunting
- Pale or mottled skin
- Jaundice
Treatment
- Immediate broad-spectrum antibiotics
- Supportive care (fluids, oxygen, ventilation)
- Identify and treat source
- NICU monitoring
