Myelofibrosis

Myelofibrosis is a chronic blood cancer in which the bone marrow becomes scarred, impairing blood cell production. JAK inhibitors and stem cell transplant have improved outcomes.

Symptoms

Treatment

  • JAK inhibitors (ruxolitinib, fedratinib, momelotinib, pacritinib)
  • Transfusions and erythropoiesis-stimulating agents for anemia
  • Hydroxyurea for elevated counts
  • Allogeneic stem cell transplant — potentially curative for selected patients
