Epidural Hematoma
An epidural hematoma is a collection of blood between the skull and the brain's outer covering (dura), typically from a torn middle meningeal artery after head trauma. It is a neurosurgical emergency.

Call 911
Anyone with a head injury who appears initially fine but then becomes drowsy, confused, has worsening headache, vomits repeatedly, or develops weakness needs immediate emergency evaluation.
Treatment
- Emergency CT scan
- Surgical evacuation (craniotomy) — time critical
- Control intracranial pressure
- ICU care
