When to Seek Urgent Care

Seek urgent care for:
  • Expanding redness with warmth and pain (cellulitis)
  • Redness with fever
  • Sudden widespread rash with blistering or sloughing
  • Facial redness with eye involvement
  • Hives with breathing difficulty (anaphylaxis — call 911)

  • Rosacea
  • Psoriasis
  • Hives (urticaria)
  • Cellulitis

Self-Care

  • Avoid known irritants and triggers
  • Cool compresses
  • Moisturizers for dryness
  • Over-the-counter hydrocortisone for mild dermatitis (short term)
  • Antihistamines for hives
